Another Ryan story first...so going out to the garage...Ryan waiting for the garage door to be opened so she can go around to the other side of the van...Izzy close by...I push the button and turn back to grab a bag and close the door...I hear a pretty intense wimper...turn to see Ryan almost to the top, hanging on for dear life to the bottom of the garage door...Izzy sucking her thumb almost directly under Ryan as she watches her go up...not saying a word. Luckily I got there just in time to bump Izzy (still staring and sucking) out of the way and grab Ryan before her fingers gave out. I tried to scold Izzy for not hollering (contrary to the norm in our family, we have to actually convince her to open her mouth and say things every now and again), but she just kept smiling with her raised eyebrows saying, "Mom, did you see that?!!"
Anyway...Grandma got to come for 2 weeks and it was awesome. Cancer appointments with help!
Landscaping with a lady who's brilliant at it (and who did most of the work--go mom!). We also decorated my house finally and played lots of games. What a great break she is :)
Going to Chillis at 8:00 p.m. for dessert was a blast!
Izzy started Pre-school today!!! She's so excited!!
Ryan has been going to Joy School for a month now. Loving it!
Lorin loves it when we come to school and have lunch with her...cute sisters! Notice the leftover healthy stuff...saving room for the ice-cream treat I allotted :)
Finally, while my Mom was here, Cory and I got to go on a couples retreat sponsored by Cory's job. A weekend in the mountains of West Virginia hiking, kyaking, getting Swedish massages, horse-back riding, fancy dinners each night followed up by some intense game-playing with our homies, and to top it off the best fireworks (choreographed to music) I've ever seen directly above our heads as we ate desserts around the pool on the golf course. We felt pretty spoiled to get to do that! Thanks Mom...again :)
I should have carried my camera around. But thanks to Katie Baird, my good friend who went horse-back riding with me, I've got this one to show for it.

So fun!! I'm totally jealous!
Wow. Yikes! I'm glad everything turned out OK with the garage door episode--and it makes a great story now! :)
And yay for family visits! And couple time. :)
Great pics of the girls! Looks like you and your mom are kickin' it on the landscaping. Nice job. Is she available for hire? Does she travel to Minnesota? :) Hope you all have a super duper weekend. I'm looking ahead to a mix of writing radio spots about a pizza sale, outlet mall shopping with my friend Amy and attending a fundraiser for local candidates. Whew. Talk to you soon!!!...
Megan.
You look hot in that equestrian helmet:) Nice catch on Ryan, by the way!
Tag...you're it...go to my blog to see what to do!
Looks like you guys are having a blast! Love the story about Ryan - Steve encouraged his sis to do the same thing when he was growing up. :) The girls all look so big!
Dang did you go to TX to work or play?
You will have to post picts. of your decorating job!
Love ya
How fun to have your mom around for a while. I'll bet she was eating up all the "work" you had for her to help with. My parents just spent a week with Derrel/Devin and my mom said my Dad didn't stop working on projects 'cause he was having too much fun! :)
Next time your mom comes she can come over to my house to help me with yard work :)
Love Izzy's new do! Hope Texas is treating you well...SO jealous as it's getting colder and colder in Ann Arbor. How are you liking Flower Mound?
I totally remember hanging onto the garage door as it was opening. Of course I must have been like 5. Maybe thats why I like all the rides at Magic Mountain!
Such a funny story!! Glad you had a blast with your mom. Nothing like some good old mama time!
So I was reading the Ryan story to Chris. I could not get through it without laughing so hard. We can just picture little Ryan hanging on for dear life. Hope Texas is great. We miss you.
Costleys-
This is Ian and Katie Davis. Melanie S. told us about your blog. We are so sorry for everything you have been going through with Izzy. What a strong little girl. She could not be blessed with a more wonderful family. You will all be in our prayers.
Your girls are gorgeous! I cannot believe how grown up Lorin and Izzy are. What cuties. I've always admired you as a Mom. Best wishes with all.
Katie
Kerrie-
Hey... I think you may be in the ward with some of my family members from Byron's side. Do you know Ken and Eryn Klingler? They live in Flower Mound too. They are the coolest-- if you don't already know them, you should!!
Hey, you inspired me to finally start a blog: it's www.reincarnatedasamother.blogspot.com
Love you-- and so glad you are loving Texas.
Lonni
Hey Kerri,
I'll drop Katie a line and hook you up!
Glad you guys are doing so well--I'm jealous of your mom visit...mine is in Mexico for three years and I'm missing her so bad, especially when I had my baby this summer.
Love,
Mel
sheesh...that garage door story about Ryan is scary! Good to see you are doing well...looks like you and your mom had a nice visit...I bet she got a "break" being w/ you too.
Love you
Deb

I remember fighting with Derek for positioning on the Garage Door Flight. It would only support the weight of one, so first come first serve - good times. The retreat sounds like it was so much fun!!
Kerri - It was so great meeting your family! I'm excited we are neighbors and I look forward to lots of playtime in the cul-de-sac! I've enjoyed reading your blog...what a brave little girl Izzy is! Unbelievable! Can't wait to get to know you all better!
Here is my homepage: www.thepinkroom.typepad.com
(my scrapbook room is PINK, hence the name!)
See you soon!
